Dare to Dream Building Project
The Dare to Dream Building Project was launched in 1997. In order to grow and continue to compete in an ever-changing business environment, SW Resources desperately needed money to expand their shopworn and outdated warehouse. A growing staff needed new offices updated to accommodate technological demands. The production area needed remodeled. Much of the facility needed a general face lift.
Under the skillful leadership of Ron and Donna Roberts, a committee was formed and a goal was established. SW Resources needed to raise $1.9 million in order to remain competitive and continue to serve individuals with disabilities. Together, board members, staff members, committee members and local supporters banded together to reach for the stars and embrace this daunting challenge.
It took thousands of phone calls, probably hundreds of personal contacts with area business leaders, numerous conversations with area governmental entities and representatives, and countless grant requests. Today, over 145 client employees with disabilities are able to maintain personal dignity as tax-paying, working members of our society. Without the extraordinary vision of the Dare to Dream project, and the aggressive and heartfelt commitment of our wonderful supporters, this would not have been possible. |
